“LET this Holy Week be a time of forgiving, sacrifice and love for everyone.”

Leyte Rep. Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, head of the House independent minority bloc, aired this appeal as he urged the people to set aside their differences as the Catholic world begins its Lenten journey and starts its recollection of the many sacrifices of Jesus Christ to show his love to us.

“Only in forgiving and loving one another can we be truly one as a nation on the road to lasting peace and prosperity,” said Romualdez.

“Let us not forget that if our Lord Jesus Christ can forgive, there’s no reason why we can’t. We all make mistakes but as an old saying goes, to err is human, to forgive is divine,” Romualdez emphasized.

Endless fighting, Romualdez said, won’t do anybody any good.

Romualdez called on the people to spend as much time as they can in talking to God and asking for His guidance and blessings this Holy Week.

“This will also be a good opportunity for us to be with our family and loved ones and take the opportunity of this long break to talk and ask for forgiveness and for our shortcomings,” he stressed.

“The way of the Lord is the only true straight path. It may not be that easy to follow but we can, if we will. There’s no other better option,” Romualdez added.   Ryan Ponce Pacpaco
