SENATOR Ramon Revilla Jr. is confident that Rep. Martin Romualdez will be able to effectively run the affairs of the Lakas-CMD (Christian Muslim Democrats) even without him or when he is already detained.

Revilla, Lakas-CMD chairman, made the remark in anticipation of the issuance of a warrant of arrest against him for his alleged involvement in the P10-billion pork barrel fund scam.  He said Romualdez is competent enough to run the Lakas-CMD being its president.

Martin bilang pangulo ng partido,” Revilla said in a briefing.

He expressed no surprise with the issuance of the hold departure order against him (HDO) by the Sandiganbayan. “It was expected, lalo na at nauna nang lumabas ‘yung kay Senator Jinggoy kahapon. Wala naman akong balak umalis. As I have said over and over, I will face the accusations against me,” Revilla said.

Asked to comment on Justice Secretary Leila de Lima’s call for him to have some delicadeza and put aside his 2016 presidential ambition, Revilla said: “Well hindi pa naman tayo guilty dito sa kasong pina- file nila sa atin bakit inuunahan na kaagad ni Secretary De Lima? Siguro out of delicadeza dapat mamili rin s’ya ng papasukan nyang mga issue hindi katulad n’yan.”

“Kung tao ang nagpatakbo sa akin, how can I say, ‘no,’ hindi ba?

I want to see that myself kaya ako umiikot at wala yung 99.9 percent na galit sa akin. Kung meron man siguro kumbaga ‘yung iilan na nalalason nila sa aspeto na to,” he said.

Asked to respond on comments that he will get strong support from the so-called “Solid North” in the 2016 presidential elections, Revilla said: “Actually mahirap baka sabihin nagko-compute na ako kung anong votes kukunin ko.”
