STORY #4 “STANDARD”
TAPPING Vice President Jejomar Binay as administration’s guest
standard-bearer for 2016 is not impossible because his foes and allies
will gravitate towards him because of his impressive track record, two
opposition lawmakers said yesterday.
House independent minority bloc leader and Leyte Rep. Ferdinand
Martin Romualdez and Paranaque City Rep. Gus Tambunting said Binay,
head of the National Unity Party (NUP), has all the qualifications to
be the presidential candidate that most political parties will aspire
for.
“That is natural possibility (Binay will be the administration’s pick
for 2016) given the track record of the Vice President. He (Binay) has
high trust and approval ratings and naturally foes and allies will
gravitate to him now that he is president-in-waiting,” Romualdez
pointed out.
For his part, Tambunting, a stalwart of UNA, said “Binay being the
administration’s bet also is not impossible because his sterling
performance and impressive track record will speak for himself. He has
high trust and approval ratings.”(RPP)
